The print process is pretty simple.

Print information comes in to the formatter, circuitry directs a laser to charge the image roller inside of the toner cartridge, toner adheres to the charged roller, paper comes through passing over a charging transfer roller. The toner transfers from the image roller inside the toner cartridge onto the paper. The paper with the toner than passes through the fuser and is melted on to the paper. You can normally buy a service manual online. There are troubleshooting steps you can try:

1) Print a test page from the printer console, if the problem remains:
2) Replace the toner cartridge, if the problem remains:
3) You may have to remove the top cover and clean the area and mirror around the laser/scanner assembly. If the problem remains:
4) It could be a bad formatter board, laser scanner assembly, or DC Controller.

My guess is it's just a bad toner cartridge.

The USB port on the printer is square, on the computer it is rectangular.
~
You need the correct USB cable. (for a printer)

Click on the following link, my friend, then scroll to the bottom of the page. Here you'll see the Quick Setup Guide which you can download.

Open the .pdf document and scroll down to page 15. This shows you where the USB port is, and how to access it.

Sadly, most printer/multi-function device manufacturers do NOT include a USB cable as this allows them to sell their product for a cheaper price. Unfortunately, if you're not aware that you need this cable to be able to connect to your computer you're in a mess ... unless you already have a cable from a previous printer lying around.

There's no need to buy a USB cable direct from the manufacturer as they're a standard fitting at both ends ... USB-A to fit into a free USB port on your computer, and USB-B to fit into the printer. (Most computer stores will simply call it a USB printer cable.)

First step is to see will if it print a test page

Go to Start, settings, printers. Right click on the printer, properties, print test page.

If that doesn't work there should be a head cleaning option in properties that will make it clean the print heads.

If there is still nothing after that then either it’s badly clogged, low or out of ink, and needs to be replaced
